CNB Council: Continued credit growth in the third quarter of 2024

Published: 22/1/2025

At its session today, the CNB Council discussed the financial and banking sectors and adopted several decisions within its competence.

In the first three quarters of 2024, banking system assets grew by HRK 3.4bn (4.3%) from December 2023. This increase mainly reflects deposit inflows in the third quarter (EUR 3.1bn), largely related to the impact of the tourist season, which offset their decline in the first half of the year. Household loans continued to increase in that period, particularly general-purpose cash loans (12.7%), which already exceeded last year's growth. Housing loans continued to grow and loans to non-financial corporations grew moderately, while investments in debt securities increased, mostly under the influence of higher investments in Republic of Croatia bonds.

The members of the Council adopted the Decision on the issue of a gold numismatic coin denominated at EUR 100 and silver numismatic coins denominated at EUR 8 and EUR 4, Halubje Bell Ringers, with commemorative motifs that represent the carnival custom in the Republic of Croatia as part of Croatian traditional culture and heritage.
