Moneterra, the Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank, participated for the first time in the Museum Night, held on Friday, 31 January 2025. Over 1 700 visitors of all ages took part in a variety of educational and entertainment activities, showing a great interest in exploring the world of money.
The visitors were especially enthusiastic about the workshop "Discover the Visible and Invisible Parts of Banknotes and Coins", where CNB's technical analysis experts showed them how to recognise the security features of euro banknotes and coins. The workshop was so well-attended that its duration had to be extended to enable everyone interested to discover the hidden world of security features.
The children's workshop "Discover the Secrets of the Euro" was attended by a large number of curious children, who, by participating in playful activities, examined the design of euro banknotes and coins and learned which EU countries use the euro as their official currency and who is in charge of its security. After the workshop they had fun playing games and watching videos, and they also took home a unique souvenir from Moneterra: a personalised banknote featuring their own photograph.
Hundreds of visitors participated in guided tours providing them with information about money and enabling them to explore its past and future and understand its importance for our everyday lives. They left Moneterra high-spirited and enriched with new knowledge about money, banking, personal finances and monetary policy.
Moneterra wishes to thank everyone taking part in this exciting evening! We will continue to pursue our mission of spreading financial literacy, looking forward to organising new educational events for all generations of citizens. For the latest news, check our social networks and website.
