With the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, the Croatian National Bank (CNB) has become an integral part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). The CNB, as the central bank of a Member State which has not adopted the euro, retains its responsibilities for formulating and implementing monetary and foreign exchange policies and for implementing other tasks assigned to it pursuant to national legislation. The CNB participates in the work of institutions and bodies of the EU relating to the preparation and adoption of decisions which fall within the scope of competence of central banks.

The CNB is a member of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

The CNB in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) performs all operations and transactions on behalf of the Republic of Croatia enacted by the respective provisions of the IMF Articles of Agreement.

The CNB also cooperates with other international financial institutions and organisations.
