On the occasion of the Global Money Week from 16 to 22 March 2026, the Croatian National Bank carried out a series of activities aimed at promoting financial literacy.
The 10th Great Student Debate, organised in cooperation with the Croatian Debate Society, was held in the Round Hall of the CNB on 16 March as the central activity to mark the Global Money Week. More than 180 students and teachers from 21 schools from 16 Croatian cities and towns discussed the topic “Can AI manage personal finances?”. The participants were addressed by CNB Governor Boris Vujčić and Vicegovernor Bojan Fras, and the discussion was also joined by Toni Milun, a financial literacy ambassador.
During the Money Week, Moneterra – the Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank conducted a series of educational activities for all age groups, while numerous educational lectures for students were also organised by the Croatian National Bank’s Visitors’ Centre.
CNB experts also participated in many other activities during the Money Week. In the context of the Financial Literacy Academy, on 19 March 2026, a lecture on the topic "Wise money management: savings as the foundation of financial resilience" was given by Ana Pisačić, financial literacy adviser at the CNB. On this occasion, Snježana Levar, Executive Director of the CNB’s Market Conduct Supervision and Consumer Protection Monitoring Area, participated in a panel discussion held at the conference of the Croatian Banking Association "Golden Years with Safe Finances", aimed at financial education of the elderly population. At the conference dedicated to financial literacy and digital security held at the Kaptol Centre on 20 March, Slaven Smojver, Director of the CNB’s Information Systems Supervision Department, participated in the panel "From Innovation to Manipulation: AI, Digitalisation and New Faces of Old Frauds".
From 17 to 20 March, the Croatian National Bank participated in the Financial Literacy Festival at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb, with an information and educational desk at which visitors were able to take a look at CNB’s educational materials and learn about its activities and the importance of financial literacy. Furthermore, Moneterra – the Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank presented its programmes at the Financial Literacy Fair as part of the conference “Wise Today, Safe Tomorrow”, organised by the Ministry of Finance on 18 March at the National and University Library in Zagreb.
On Saturday 21 March, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb, a workshop for the youngest visitors “Money through Stories” will be held in Moneterra, where children will learn about saving, differences between wishes and needs, and managing money responsibly through stories, plays and interactive activities.
Financial education at the Croatian National Bank is ongoing throughout the year. All interested schools and faculties have the opportunity to participate in lectures and visits to the Croatian National Bank.
