The Croatian National Bank hosted an Open Day today from 9am to 5pm. This provided an opportunity to members of the public to participate in workshops and take a tour of the Round Hall, the main stock exchange hall of the former Zagreb Stock and Commodity Exchange in the main building of the Croatian central bank, designed by the renowned Croatian architect Viktor Kovačić. More than 1100 people visited the CNB today, and some of them took part in the workshops entitled “Why should you save?”, “Get to know euro banknotes” and “Croatian National Bank in the Eurosystem”.
As part of the Open Day, students and representatives of associations also had an opportunity to meet Governor Vujčić and Deputy Governor Sandra Švaljek. The Governor delivered a lecture on the topic of monetary policy decision-making and functioning of the ECB’s Governing Council and on his role in that body, while the Deputy Governor spoke about central banking in the context of climate change. The lectures were followed by an interesting discussion, where students showed keen interest in the work and activities of both the CNB and the Eurosystem.
