This year's international Dubrovnik Economic Conference, an event traditionally hosted towards end-June for the past 13 years by the Croatian National Bank, is opening tomorrow with the Pre-Conference Paper Presentations from a generation of young economists from the Croatian National Bank, Institute of Economics Zagreb, and the Faculty of Economics from Rijeka and Split.
On Thursday and Friday, numerous renowned world economists in the area of monetary and economic policies from Croatia and from abroad and representatives of the most important international financial institutions will gather to discuss current problems in banking sector development and supervision, demographic developments and developments in the labour market, inflation determinants and their association with cross-currency developments. Panel discussion focusing on EU enlargement experience so far, with participation from the representatives of the European Commission, IMF European Department and four central banks, is expected with particular interest.
